The Scenography course pursues wide-ranging spatial ideals applicable but not limited to the "virtual" worlds of theatre, television and film. The Spatial Planning Design course/Lighting Design course seeks to create environments, based on keen observations of contemporary living, which act as a communication tool and convey a social message. The Fashion Design course expands the vision of fashion to include the surrounding environment and culture. In all three courses of study, we aim to design space that inspires different human activities, and expresses a more beautiful, more enriching, and higher spiritual culture.
The nature of our work calls for diverse technological and creative output that transcends traditional realms of art and design. It is essential to be versed in expressive approaches and techniques with a long and venerable history, as well as new forms of media, and new technologies. And to integrate the multiplicity of elements, students must not only expand their modes of expression from two-dimensional to three-dimensional images and space, but also develop a keen perspective on a myriad of problems confronting contemporary society, and insight into human nature and culture. Our ultimate aim is not to represent physical and visual aspects of space, but to fuse the physical and psychological aspects of human beings with their environment.
Concepts of space evolve over time, although by nature it has no form. Various ideas are generated for urban spaces in particular and new mechanisms devised for spaces in general. Because the memory of a space is formed and communicated as a foundation for a physical experience, the first task is to refine one's own sensibility and increase one's own capacity to absorb.
A refined sensibility is the product of an accumulation of the fragments of our daily lives involving the observation of contemporary human beings and the way spaces are managed as our own levels of sensitivity are enhanced.
