Each year, MAU sends two research fellows to its two ateliers in the Cite Internationale des Arts, Paris, which opened in 1965 with the assistance of the French government and city of Paris. Selected from students who have graduated from MAU with outstanding grades and show great promise as young artists and scholars, the award provides each research fellow use of an atelier for one year plus a stipend to support their studies. To date about 50 research fellows from MAU have used Cite Internationale des Arts residencies to foster ties with young artists from around 40 countries engaged in a variety of artistic endeavors, while furthering their own studies and production of art.
