研究テーマ

インテリアプロダクトとその周囲の関係性について。

6才の頃より家具作りを始める。武蔵野美術大学工芸工業デザイン学科インテリアデザインコース卒業後、渡英。'97年、英国王立芸術大学大学院（Royal College of Art） 修了。 同年、ロンドンにて、Kazuhiro Yamanaka Officeを設立。クライアントはヨーロッパを中心にパルッコ、ボッフィ、インゴマウラー、アレッシなど世界のトップ企業、また世界中の美術館にわたる。
'04 年、イタリア・ミラノサローネにて、サローネで最も優秀な新人に与えられる「デザインレポートアワード」最優秀賞を日本人として初めて受賞。その他受賞多数。 作品の一部はニューヨーク近代美術館（MoMA）のパーマネントコレクションに選定されている。
照明インスタレーションをヴィクトリア・アルバート・ミュージアム（ロンドン）、コレット（パリ）、クーパーフューイット国立デザイン博物館（ニューヨーク）をはじめ、世界の美術館にて行う。それらの作品は、世界中のデザインの雑誌・プレスで紹介されている。
また、'04年より各国で国際デザインコンペの審査員や学生・企業向けのレクチャーなどの講演活動も行っている。'11年より、活動の範囲をさらに広げ、商業空間のインテリアデザインを手がける。

Born in Tokyo in 1971. Kazuhiro Yamanaka graduated from the Royal College of Art (London) in 1997. He is involved in a variety of different fields of design, from furniture design to lighting design and installations. His current client list includes Pallucco, Boffi, Ingo Maurer, Saazs, Alessi and museums worldwide.
The many prizes that he has been awarded include the Design Report Award 2004 (Milan). His creations can be found in the collection of MoMA (New York). In addition, he has also created lighting installations at the Victoria and Albert Museum (London), Collette (Paris), Designboom, and Laforet Museum (Tokyo), among others. Kazuhiro Yamanaka has been featured worldwide in the following publications: Abitare, Casa Abitare, Design Diffusion News, Esquire, Domus, Elle Decor, Interni, Intramuros, md, Metropolitan Home, The New York Times, Ottagono, Vogue, and Wallpaper*. He has also judged many international design competitions, including the HKDA Design Awards 2009 and designboom International Design Competitions.
