研究テーマ

具象絵画による造形表現。

'88年から個展を中心に作品を発表する。主に社会で起こる様々な事象から発想を得、自然と人間、社会と個人、風習や流行、それらに時には翻弄され、時には反抗する同時代を生きる人々の姿をとおして作品にしたものが多い。
'05年から1年間、本学在外研究員としてオーストリアのウィーンに滞在。
展覧会：紀伊國屋画廊、あかね画廊、コートギャラリー、アートスペースカワモト等で定期的に個展を開催。'94年「現代美術新進作家展」（網走市立美術館）、日本現代作家美術展（上海美術館）、'97年「可視化の構造―11の空間」、'01年「心の原風景」（富山県立近代美術館）、'03年「人を描く展Ⅱ」、'04年「武蔵野の作家達展」、'07年「人を描くIII」（以上、神田日勝記念館）、'12年「リレーション」（武蔵野美術大学大学美術館）、「オリンピックファインアーツ2012」（バービカンセンター、ロンドン）等がある。
受賞歴：'92年「日伯現代美術展」最優秀賞、'95年「日本海美術展」大賞、'95年「セントラル美術館油絵大賞展」佳作賞等。
パブリックコレクション：富山県立近代美術館、駒込高校モザイク壁画、中国オリンピック記念館。
著作：『3つのアングルから見るヌードポーズブック』池田書店 '08年、『3つのアングルから見る 日常の動作を描くヌードポーズブック』同 '09年、水上泰財画集『Little Life』あかね画廊 '11年。

I get ideas for my works from various phenomena occurring in society. Even in the short period since the latter half of the 1980s, when I began to present my works, various phenomena have occurred, such as the emergence and collapse of the economic bubble and the incidents involving the religious cult, Aum Shinrikyo. My recent works have been stimulated by the Great East Japan Earthquake disaster. In my case, while I get ideas from such incidents and phenomena, what I really want to draw is ordinary folks—ordinary people living ordinary lives all around us. In other words, you might say that I use social phenomena to depict people. I want to express people living in the contemporary age who are at times tossed about by or at other times stand against conflicts between nature and human beings, the individual and society, tradition and fashion, and so forth. I wish to believe that this process will go on eternally. I always want to teach students about the humble dignity of people.
