小田島文顕さん（1997年短期大学部デザイン科工芸デザイン専攻卒業）が参加する展覧会のお知らせ。

このたび、ギャラリアン アスカヤマは1月22日（金）-2月28日（日）まで、GALLERYAN PROJECT-"LEAP BEFORE YOU LOOK"#2を開催いたします。今展覧会はギャラリアン アスカヤマでの初紹介作家、大島祐樹・小田島文顕による2人展となります。

参加作家・プロフィール
大島祐樹 1985年長野県生まれ。東京都デザイナー学院インテリアデザイン科にて空間デザインを学ぶ。その後、東京藝術大学美術学部絵画科にて油画を専攻し卒業。デザインを学んだ後、芸術への強い探究心から東京藝術大学へ進学することで絵画、とりわけ表現への立場を模索する。大島は人々がどのように表現を読みとくのか自身で仮説を立てることで美術家としての表現スタイルを確立することを目指す。表層性や関係性、また、そこに介在する身体性や即興性、物質感といったものに着目した絵画作品を制作。近年では写真、コラージュ、立体作品などの制作も行っている。

小田島文顕 1978年東京生まれ。武蔵野美術大学短期大学部工芸工業デザイン機器コース卒業後、東京ガラス工芸研究所にてガラスを学ぶ。渡米後、オハイオ州立大学芸術学部ガラス科卒業、バージニアコモンウェルズ大学大学院芸術学部ガラス科を修了。米国では学部時代、及び大学院時代共に日本では工芸分野としてイメージが強い素材であるガラスを学び、唯一の日本人学生としてその社会の観察と相互作用を含まれざるをえない環境下で過ごす。このような経験からメディウム、表現者、空間との関係性に注目し柔軟な態度で積極的に偶然性を生かしながら、サウンド、ガラスやカラーフィルム、テープなど透明感のある素材を用いたインスタレーション作品などの制作を行っている。

今展はギャラリアン アスカヤマでの初発表作家によるグループ展GALLERYAN PROJECT-"LEAP BEFORE YOU LOOK"第2弾となります。参加作家の美術に対する真摯な姿勢によって多様な創造の地平を切り開く意欲的な試みとしてスタートしました。大島の印刷で大量生産される壁紙から表層的なインスピレーションを得ることで制作された絵画に機械的衝撃を与えた作品と小田島の場所性からインスピレーションを得ることで個人的関係性や小さな意味を捉えて制作されたインスタレーション作品で構成されます。鑑賞者は経歴の異なる2人の表現者が各々の作品を提示することで立ち現れる文化的アイデンティティの差異を体現し、感情の交錯とともに両者の動的で静的な相反する世界観に心を揺さぶられるでしょう。この機会に是非ご高覧ください。皆様のご来廊を心よりお待ち申し上げます。

GALLERYAN ASUKAYAMA is pleased to present "Leap Before You Look #2" two person exhibit by Yuki Oshima and Fumiaki Odajima, from Jan 22 to Feb 28. This is the first time that both artists have shown their work in GALLERYAN ASUKAYAMA.

"Yuki Oshima"
Yuki Oshima was born in 1985 in Nagano Prefecture, and currently based in Tokyo. Oshima graduated from the Design Department Tokyo Designer Gakuin College, and completed BA in Fine Arts at the Tokyo University of the Arts. He is an artist who unconventional approach emerged from his communication with the medium. His specific purpose was to make painting in which pictorial conclusions came from materiality and Single Surface meaning and, the painting are histories of their own artistic inspiration and vandalism. Also, uses art and design as a expression for surface structure.

"Fumiaki Odajima"
Fumiaki Odajima was born in 1978 in Chiba Prefecture, and currently based in both Tokyo and AmamiOshima. He graduated from the Glass Department The Ohio State University, and received an MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University. He is well versed in some media, (glass, PVC sheet, Plastic, tape, digital program, etc) and fabricates sound and installations through the some media. Also, increasingly becoming compendious representation as an installation artist who uses the medium of sound and transparent material to pursue and highlight the character of the place. It suggested to people the importance of a space surrounding.

This exhibition will focus on the intersection of Artists and artistic expression, and discloses that things are "Leap Before You Look", in Kenzaburo Oe's words. Yuki Oshima and Fumiaki Odajima will present a selection of new works in a sound installations and painting of media. They are two practitioners of the creative activities who expand our understanding not just of the genre, but how we react to and interact with each other. Viewers will find themselves intrigued by these artworks and compelled to interact with them by their physical space.
