寺田尚樹教授（空間演出デザイン学科）が、ドイツのケルンで開催される家具見本市「Orgatec」におけるイベント「Work CultureFestival　-whereever whenever-」にて講演を行います。

概要：
In recent years, Japanese furniture has gained increasing international recognition. However, furniture did not become a common part of everyday life in Japan until after World War II. This lecture traces the evolution of Japanese furniture, showing how Japan rapidly embraced aspects of the European lifestyle after the war while developing a unique design culture of its own. The history of furniture is inseparable from the history of the living environment. Using the danchi—the large-scale postwar housing developments that transformed the lifestyles of millions of Japanese—as a case study, this lecture explores the close relationship between architecture, furniture, and everyday life.

最近、日本の家具が世界的に注目されてますが、日本で家具が家庭に一般化、普及したのは第二次世界大戦以降のことです。戦後、急速にヨーロッパのライフスタイルを取り入れ独自の文化を育んできた日本の家具の変遷を紹介します。
家具の変遷はまさに住環境の変遷と同義です。戦後の経済発展期に人々のライフスタイルを大きく変えた「団地」を例に、建築と家具の関係性を探ります。

寺田尚樹（Naoki Terada）プロフィール
Naoki Terada is an architect, designer, and professor, recognised as one of the leading figures in contemporary Japanese design. He studied architecture at Meiji University in Tokyo and at the renowned Architectural Association School of Architecture (AA) in London. His work spans architecture, product design, and brand development, combining craftsmanship with an interdisciplinary design approach. Throughout his career, he founded several design and product brands, including TERADAMOKEI, 15.0%, and the furniture brand i+, and served as President and Representative Director of Inter Office Co., Ltd. He has also been a juror for international design awards such as the Good Design Award, the iF Design Award, and the DFA Awards while teaching at leading universities. Today, Naoki Terada is Professor at Musashino Art University、Lecturer at Tama Art University and Visiting Professor at Tokyo University of Technology. His work represents the intersection of craftsmanship, innovation, and design culture, spanning architecture, furniture and product design, and strategic brand development.

寺田尚樹氏は、建築家、デザイナー、そして大学教授として活躍し、日本のデザイン界を代表する人物の一人です。
東京の明治大学で建築を学んだ後、ロンドンの名門 Architectural Association School of Architecture（AAスクール） に留学。建築、プロダクトデザイン、ブランド開発を横断する学際的なアプローチを特徴としています。
これまでに、TERADAMOKEI、15.0%、家具ブランド i+ など、複数のデザイン・プロダクトブランドを立ち上げたほか、Inter Office Co., Ltd. の代表取締役社長なども歴任しました。 また、グッドデザイン賞（Good Design Award）、iF Design Award、DFA Awards などの国際的なデザインアワードで審査員を務めるとともに、大学教育にも携わり、次世代のデザイナー育成と国際的なデザイン文化の発展に貢献しています。
現在は武蔵野美術大学教授、多摩美術大学非常勤講師、および東京工科大学客員教授を務めています。
寺田氏の活動は、建築、プロダクトデザイン、家具デザインから戦略的なブランド開発に至るまで幅広く、卓越したクラフトマンシップ、イノベーション、そしてデザイン文化を融合させた取り組みで高く評価されています。
