研究テーマ

現代美術における石彫表現の発展と新たな可能性の探究

日常の風景や生活の中にある、当たり前と思われていることを懐疑的に見て再考することで、浮かび上がる“わからなさ”から新たな発見をしている。思い描くイメージの自由さの中で、石という物質の不自由さを手がかりにし、“わからなさ”が持つ言語を超えた一つ先を「かたち」として留めていく。

“Moderate Harmony”

When creating sculptures, I place great importance on a sense of “moderate harmony.” By this, I do not mean a perfectly resolved state, but rather one that contains slight shifts and subtle dissonances.

For me, sculpture cannot be separated from daily life or from the act of living itself. The weight and temporality inherent in stone as a material, along with small, everyday moments—such as words my child casually utters while I am raising them—become the starting points of my work. Within these given conditions, “form” is gradually discovered.

However, form is never fully closed. I leave within it something like a slight margin of openness. It is this margin that allows the work to open out from a mere form into another dimension.

“Moderate harmony” is the act of remaining between completion and incompletion. It is both a constraint and a potential.

I believe this sensibility is not limited to artistic practice, but also serves as a key to living in the world.
